What a way for Swan River Showjumping to celebrate its 10th birthday!
SRSJC’s events always fill fast, but entries for our 2017 Annual Championships at the State Equestrian Centre (SEC) were filled in the blink of an eye, with hardly a spot left in any class within just two hours of opening online.
“The popularity of jumping events has boomed throughout WA this year – it’s getting hard to keep up with the demand,” said SRSJC Chair Suzanne McGill. A hastily added wait list also filled almost immediately. Suzanne added, “It’s so difficult turning away keen competitors, but there’s just so much light in a day, plus we’re sensitive to preserving the SEC’s grass surface during a two-day show.”
SRSJC’s Championships at the State Equestrian Centre is the club’s first outdoor show in nearly two years after running indoor fixtures exclusively at Brookleigh. “Riders were keen to compete outdoors to prepare for the big run of local shows that starts with the Perth Royal Show at the end of September. The sizable cohort of riders competing at Adelaide Royal (the weekend following SRSJC’s Championships) also wanted a last opportunity to compete at an outdoor ‘home’ show.”
Having Australia’s top-rated FEI course designer, John Vallance, creating tracks at the event was also a draw card.
SRSJC’s cecade birthday celebrations include a casual party upstairs at the State Equestrian Centre on Saturday night, with the club putting on free pizza at about 7.30pm and the bar open for business from 6.30pm. RSVPs on Swan River Showjumping’s Facebook page or by emailing email@example.com. Entry to the two days of jumping and the Saturday night party is free.
Limited spots are open for Sunday’s ringside SRSJC VIP Lunch in the VIP Marquee for just $50 per person, all drinks and food included. This must be booked ahead and payment received by Tuesday, 22 August by contacting Suzanne, 0419 912 533 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
